New abortion controversy hits Congress

On the day that the senate reached a deal on abortion language in a bill to combat human trafficking the House of Representatives worked on a law that passed last Tuesday night that bans employers from punishing their employees for using abortion services and birth control. The Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups have attempted to block the law according to a reporter. Debate of the panel has become very heated and personnel. Quote from Tim Walberg "This is a continued attack on religion and a person's 1st amendment rights of freedom of belief." But democrats on the panel argued that the GOP was raising a controversial issued and imposing its views on the District of Colombia once again. Earlier this year the House Republican leaders pulled a bill that would have banned "late-term" abortions for woman who are beyond 20 weeks. The decision could have helped the criticism from the GOP leaders but now they are still negotiating internal divisions.
