UCLA 'super bug' at hosptial
179 exposed, 7 infected, and 2 possible deaths were all linked to a 'superbug' that was exposed at the UCLA hospital. The bug supposedly was contaminated on medical instruments and was exposed to patients. 179 patients were exposed to the antibiotic-resistant contamination between October and January. The bacteria caused infections in the bladder and lungs which lead to coughing, fevers, and the chills. The medical devices that were used, were inserted through the patients throats but still carried the bacteria even though they were sterilized to certain specifications. The outbreak was discovered last month during tests on a patient. The devices were removed immediately and the contamination procedures were upgraded.
